Default Sim Card

I recently ordered a Motorola V3 to replace a V180 that I have had for a
couple of years. The lady that took my order at Cingular told me that I
needed to use the sim card that was coming with the new phone. My phone book
is on the sim card which I had planned on taking out of the old phone and
putting into the new one. I have doubts about having to use the new sim card
but am not that knowledgeable about it. Both phones were purchased from
Cingular and have Cingular sim cards. Will the old card work in the new
phone?

Thanks, Steve

Yes, but not as well. Copy the old SIM card to a phone, and then copy
from the phone to the new SIM card.

The following was advice given to me regarding transferring my phone book
list from one Nokia to another, 6340i to 6102i. My old sim is a 32kb and the
new ine is 64kb. Hence, I got a message regarding feature enabling when I
used it in my new phone. It didn't affect the phone number transfer.

"As far as transferring the numbers from your 6340i phone to your new 6102i,
it is not that hard to do. First, make sure your old 6340i SIM has all the
numbers stored on the SIM (if it doesn't, use the 6340i phone's menu to copy
them there). Next, put the 6340i SIM into the 6102i, and go through the
6102i's menus to copy the numbers from the SIM to the handset. Finally,
switch SIMs (ending up with the new SIM in the 6102i), and copy the numbers
from the handset back to the SIM. If you prefer having your numbers on the
phone, you can skip this last copying step."

Like John said. The new SIM really makes a difference in reception in
marginal areas. A Cingular store might have a gizmotron to copy
directly from your old SIM to the new one, stop by any store and ask.
