Default T-Mobile Service in Western NC Gone

We haven't been able to call or receive, off and on, for days; and now
we can't even get T-Mobile's 611 number. They whined that they had a
network problem and that they would have it fixed soon. Yeah, soon,
huh? It's been over a week.

This is the only phone service we have and we have a resident here
with leukemia. They sure do like our money, but they just don't
deliver. Must have the same moral disease as SunCom.

If you're considering service with T-Mobile, which bought out SunCom,
BUYER BEWARE!

Must be an issue with that particular part of the country. I've never
had a problem like that in almost five years of being a T-Mo customer.

Oh, and by the way, if you're going to post about a T-Mo problem,
wouldn't it be more productive to post in alt.cellular.t-mobile?

You know, to find out if anyone else is having a similar problem?

Maybe you should try another service provider? Or perhaps even get a
landline phone?

Very foolish to rely solely on a cell phone for residential service.

Great Verizon service WITHOUT all the lies, funny business, addon fees
noone can explain, odd taxes you never heard of and gimmicks comes from:

http://www.pagepluscellular.com/

There is a massive 50 cent monthly fee deducted from your account.
THAT'S IT! No 50c fee if you buy a monthly plan.

If you use less than about 700 mins a month, the straight prepaid plan
is best at about 4c/min when bought on the $80 card at deep discount
from:

http://callingmart.com/

when they email you the specials as a discount code after you establish
your account with them. We do not buy time directly from Pageplus
because for $72 on Callingmart.com you get the $80 card which gives you
$86 in credit when you put the PIN number into the Pageplus phone, right
online....so easy!

Great instructions on how to make this work for you is here:

http://nordicgroup.us/prepaid/pageplus.html

.....but the website's 5.3c/min is a little out of date as it's a hair
over 4c/min for the big card now. The more you buy at a charge, the
more you save overall. Callingmart will sell you a big discount PIN and
HOLD it in your account for up to a year so you can use it on pageplus
whenever you need it. You MUST, without fail, buy "something" and put
in at least one PIN every FOUR months, to the day, or your account will
go bye bye on pageplus. IF you keep your account current, Pageplus
never steals your balance, like T-mo or Verizon does every month.

There are also two monthly plans that do not roll over like prepaid.

$29.95 for 1200 minutes + 1200 text and picture messages + 50MB of
internet data. Discounted with Calling Mart, this comes to about
$26/month for a 1200/1200 plan! Cheep, cheep, CHEEP!

$39.95 for unlimited talk, unlimited texts (without picture messages)
and 20MB of internet, discounted comes to around $35/month. Any
Pageplus PIN will recharge these accounts AFTER your initial setup with
the proper 1200/1200 or Unlimited PIN.

These plans are great for teens and heavy users AFTER Daddy has paid
that $400 sellphone bill....(c;]

You don't have to be stuck on some crappy T-Mo system. Pageplus uses
the SAME Verizon CDMA system NATIONWIDE as the most expensive Verizon
Plan customer....all across America.

Buy any Alltel or Verizon CDMA phone off Ebay for cheap. You only need
to enter the ESN (under the battery) from the phone so PP knows which
phone to connect its service to, to get started. Get a PP phone number
FIRST, then call them on #737 from the PP connected new phone and PORT
your old T-Mobile number over in 2 minutes by the nice lady from OHIO,
not Bangledesh....(c;]

Having an English-speaking operator takes some getting used to.....

IF YOU LIVE IN THE WESTERN USA where AMPS (analog) is still king in
rural Western America, having a tri-mode phone that still has AMPS on it
will make a PP phone work in places where even Verizon phones won't!

Larry
Escaped Alltel after THE BORG assimilated them....ported to Pageplus and
service on Verizon/Alltel towers is first class.....PHONE ONLY...what
you need that's NOT a toy.

Nonsense. There is no need for a landline money sucker any more. No
landline, no spam calls all night! No landline, no "long distance"
charges on a system that hasn't had a long distance longline in 45
years....but continues to play that game on landline customers who don't
know any better.

No landline here since 1992.

Here in coastal CT we haven't noticed any problems
calling or being called, BUT:

Other things T-Mobile are definitely screwy.

Here, lightly edited, is what I posted just a few
moments ago to the alt.cellular.t-mobile newsgroup:

A few days ago a t-mobile rep told me my latest
help desk ticket about the EmailFilters.aspx page
not loading for me (Server Error 500 -- ongoing
since April of 2009 (!) ) was finally "resolved",
so I just now tried to get there.

I can log in, alright, on my.t-mobile.com, but
*no* link on the welcome page gives me anything
other than a blank page (viewing source reveals
a HEAD section with only the charset declared,
and a BODY section present but entirely empty).

And a call to the 800 WestWyr help number, the
landline equivalent to 611 on a cellular handset,
after requesting my cellular phone number, reports:

"You have reached us after hours. We will be
available again at six AM EST ... or ... on
my.t-mobile.com ... ."

"After hours"? And web site functionally dead?

Anyone got any idea what sort of MS/Danger/T-Mo
gaffe is going on *this* time? And since when
has their WestWyr help line stopped being 24/7 ?

TIA; apologies if this is a duplicate (news client
flaked out on me first go-round); and cheers,
