Default TDMA phone useless?

Is there any use for an AT&T wireless TDMA phone or should I toss it?
Which carrier, if any, still operates TDMA networks in the USA? Perhaps it
can be used for calling 911?

<sarcasm>Find the FCC transmit test menu and <pun>have a

Other than that, pretty much a doorstop. I wouldn't quite trash one
yet, as I suspect one can get them to work on the DECT block... an old
TDMA phone would be a lot nicer than any of the sub-$100 shit they sell
as a "cordless phone".

Does anyone know how to make that possible? do you need a tdma
basestation (very low power I would assume) that provides the same
interfacing between a tdma phone and pots. Anyone built such a thing?
If you had... does it work well?

In some urban areas, TDMA has already joined the dodo bird, and with it
went any value for 911 dependency. Without a network to latch on to,
it's just a paper weight.

What's that? An FCC frequency range?
