Default Unlocking w/ Cingular subsidy code-HELP

Any help would be appreciated.. I requested unlock code from cingular for
Motorola Razr.. received a code -- put in my new united-mobile sim card -
input pin code to activate - then requested Subsidy code... which i then
input the Cingular code provided and seemed to accept. However, when trying
to make any calls with new SIM card or ck balance -- i get message "number
not allowed", Please wait, network busy and then nothing... anybody have any
clues?

I've seen that behaviour when roaming with a prepaid SIM which had no
balance. The phone would register with a network okay, but when I
tried to make a call the network would reject it and the phone would
then apparently go searching for another network to use before giving up.

If you are in a place where you've got free incoming calls you could
try calling the phone to see if that works. If not it may be that the
SIM isn't actually activated yet.

I've always wondered how United Mobile SIMs could get free incoming
calls and pretty decent outgoing rates in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin
Islands, but quite awful rates in the rest of the US. It's the
all the same wireless carriers they're roaming on.

I did try to call my mobile # and that worked fine. Just cannot dial an
outgoing number??? Or even use the check balance function? Do you think it
could have something to do with not being able to fine the network/no
coverage? However, would that then keep me from receiving calls? I
definitely have a balance..

If you can receive incoming calls you know you've got the phone unlocked
and are getting service from the network it is registered with. I don't
know enough to offer any other opinions, except that what you are describing
is perfectly consistent with what I've seen roaming with a SIM with no
balance.

I think at this point you need to try out United Mobile customer service.
If you really do have a balance it is possible that you are required
to use some oddball dialing procedures that you are unaware of (I have
a Hong Kong SIM which, when roaming, lets you make calls with a callback
service dialed with some magic sequence including a lot of '#' characters).
