V3xx: incoming message or voice mail stops modem use

I've finally narrowed down a nagging problem: When using the V3xx as a
"tethered" modem to a computer, if a text message or voice mail comes
in, data will stop flowing through the modem until the text message or
voice mail indicator is cleared, whereupon it will resume normally.

It's a strange issue for a phone that has the remarkable ability to
handle data, a voice call, and Bluetooth headset all at the same time.
