Default weird service issues

A friend of mine in Austin TX has cingular and I have verizon in
Nashville tn. She has had the same issues with multiple phones. When
she calls me she shows up as caller id blocked on my phone even though
she isn't blocking her id. she also has intermittent issues with not
being able to make calls. One last weird thing I've noticed is that
when I call her and get her VM message there are two different messages
that play. 90% of the time it's one of them, but occasionally a
different one plays. She said she can't remember the last time she
recorded a new greeting. She's been round and round with cingular
support but they keep acting like it's a phone problem, but like I've
said she's had the same issues with mulitple phones. Any ideas?

Obviously her account is set up dofferently than the CSRs are smart
enough to recognize. It's trivial to go online
to Cingular's "My Account" and change caller-id setting for one's
account, that over rides what set on the handset.
