When committment expires

My current two year commitment is about to expire. We have the "old" 850
minute plan for $60/month, with one extra line for an additional $10.

I see the $60 plan now only includes 700 minutes.

What happens at the end of my commitment if I do nothing? Do I drop back to
700 minutes/month?

What happens if I take advantage of any specials that are running that
require a "new" two year commitment? Will I retain the 850 minutes or drop
back to 700?

There's a problem with the camera in my Razr and would like to replace it at
some point.

Any suggestions?

Sure would help if we knew what city you live in......what geographic area.
Then, we might come up with some better, cheaper, alternatives.

Also, do you travel nationwide on a regular basis, or just on vacation and
to grandma's house a couple times a year? You get a LOT more time for LESS
money on a REGIONAL plan that covers a couple of states on some systems.

Case in point:
Alltel Greater Freedom:
700 mins, free n/w, free LD, voicemail, usual toys over a 2-state region -
$39.95. Stay 6 months, they add 100 anytime minutes to use at the first
part of your month. Free Alltel M2M to any Alltel mobile, anywhere.
Alltel MyCircle on this cheap plan is now 1 number. The next higher plan
is 5 numbers. The big plans get 20 numbers. My Circle is ANY phone on ANY
system, unlimited service...24/7/365....not just other people on your
system. Sorry, no rollover minutes, though.

UNLIMITED tethered data on EVDO (700-900Kbps) is $25 and no funny business.
I'm listening to Sky-FM 70's music over it as I'm typing this on my N800
Linux tablet. Fair bandwidth, no bitching at you...(c;

too much. My whole bill with unlimited internet and tax load is $76/mo,
800 mins.

If you occasionally travel, not a problem. 100 NATIONWIDE minutes is
$10....ONLY WHEN YOU NEED THEM, not continuously when you don't....

But, alas, Alltel is primarily in the South, but growing. They're CDMA 800
Mhz with real, dependable service across the country, here in the South.

Tell where you are and how much you travel....let's compare systems....

I live in Central Florida about 50 miles north of Orlando.

The cell phone is our only phone and we call several states and phone
numbers regularly. I will surely look into the plans that you have noted.
Don't know anyone else that we call that are using Alltel.

As you say "our", on that plan, you can add extra lines for wife/kids
for $9.95 each/month sharing 900 minutes to phones NOT on My Circle.

I put a friend on it whos teen daughter was eating his bill alive! She
has girlfriends/boyfriends on 7 of the mycircle 10, mom gets 2, dad gets
1. Anybody can call anybody in the family on free M2M no minute usage.
Daughter can tie up HER line with Boyfriend 3.2, Boyfriend 2.8 and
Girlfriend 12.8 all night, even on a conference call at no charge! (Not

Thanks for the great detailed information.

I live about 20 miles south of Ocala, Lady Lake is the town.

When I look at the plans on Alltel's web site I see that extra lines are
$20/month for the 900 minute National Freedom plan not $9.

One great concern is if the phones would work from our home. Some folks
that visit do have a problem.

We have zero interest in any Internet stuff or text messaging. Just want
voice communication.

Does changing MyCircle members via the Internet take affect instantaneously?
Is there any limitation placed on the number of changes?

Actually the cost as outlined is the same or $10 more/month (cost of extra
line) that what we pay now. The advantage is we could get new Razrs for
$10 each. and at least 50 more minutes/month.

I typically use less than 100 minutes and the lady of the house typically
uses about 650.
