Default Wi-Fi with Cell phone

I use the Cingular/ATT network for my cell phone service. I have just
purchased an unlocked smartphone(Samsung SGG-I321N) and, by switching
out the Sim card from my old phone established service to Cingular/ATT
with the new phone.

My question relates to the stated Wi-Fi capability of this phone. I
have read the manual but do not find any description of how to set up
the phone to connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot. My laptop finds Wi-Fi
signals and offers me the opportunity to connect to them and does all
the heavy lifting. Is this possible with a cell phone? Or does the
cell have to go through GPRS? or ?

Any ideas appreciated.

Tom

Have you tried to get the information from Samsung?
