Default Disabling WAP proxy in T39m / older SE phones?

Any help appreciated here, if someone knows how to disable the
proxy for the WAP browser in older Sony Ericsson (t39m / t68i) phones
that would be great. This is specifically for SyncML, it seems that
uses the same proxy settings the browser does, which is not what I want
it to do. I have already tried setting it to 0.0.0.0 and this doesn't
work, it won't allow you to leave this empty. Also pretty sure I have
tried adding DNS servers to the GPRS account I was using and no help
there. I guess there is a possibility that the WAP browser and SyncML
client just are not smart enough to resolve DNS and function without a
proxy, but I hope there is some way to get it working.

I realize this phone is a dinosaur, but I was hoping to use it
to test out some sync servers. Still a great phone too, probably better
than a lot of the junk out there now (bluetooth, IR, GPRS, triband,
doesn't sound like a Casio keyboard when it rings).
