Default pause vs wait

315 threads on pause and I could not find what I am looking for.
On page 35 of the Moto W315 manual, it states a p (pause), w (wait),
or n (number).
My 2700/2800 extensions must go through the switchboard.
Example: 18008001234 ext 2700. Do I do a wait, or pause? It takes two
seconds for the switchboard to allow you to dial the number directly.
So is that 18008001234p2700 ?

First, let me describe the difference between P & W. Pause stops the
dialing sequence for 2 seconds and then continues with no action from
the user. Wait stops the dialing sequence and only continues when you
press a button to continue dialing.

So, since you are calling into an automatic system that requires a 2
second pause, you will need to use more than one pause because exactly 2
seconds may not be enough, particularly when you add ringing time before
the switchboard answers. You'll need to experiment by calling in and
starting a stopwatch at the instant the 18008001234 is completed and
then stopping the watch as soon as the system is ready to accept the
extension. As original answer time may vary you'll want to test several
times and probably add a 1 second buffer to arrive at the total pause
time. Assuming it always takes about 1 second to answer and 2 seconds
for the system to accept input, you'll need a 3 second delay so you'd
use Pause twice for a 4 second delay.
IOW dial 18008001234PP2700. If you find that you are dialing the
extensions too quickly you can always add another P.

Hope this clarifies it for you.

Pause (p) pauses, then resumes dialing on its own.

Wait (w) pauses until YOU resume it manually.

Just insert ppp or pppp to extend the pause so it will give the system
plenty of time, but not way too much time, to finish talking then the p
string ends and the dailing goes on automatically.

My voicemail dialer to automate the voicemail is called "bitchbox".

When I tell the Z6m to "call bitchbox", it dials my own number entered
like:

(my number)ppp(my passcode)pp1

The logon ends in 1 because Alltel makes you press 1 to start the messages
playing. Your ppp length will vary. "Call bitchbox" into the phone or
headset plays my messages without keying anything.
