Default tracfone motos

I have a couple tracfone phones that I think are pretty cool. Tracfone
sells their phones cheap, but rip ya a new one for minutes. Tracfone sucks!

I currently use Boost mobile, which uses motorola phones. Boost charges the
heck out you for a decent phone, but full access (for my purposes) is only
$50.00/mo.

Thusly, I would like to use the nicer phone provided by tracfone on the
Boost Mobile network. It seems to me this should be possible.

Also, I can't see a model number on the tracfone, it doesn't ID itself on
bootup and so far I cant find anything in the menus.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

There are at least two different and incompatible cell phone
technologies in use in the USA: CDMA and GSM. Verizon Wireless uses
CDMA. AT&T and other providers use GSM.

I don't know which technology Tracfone or Boost uses. *IF* Tracfone
uses the same technology as Boost, you can probably use Tracfone's
phones on Boost's network. Just be aware of the BIG IF!!!! There may
be other obstacles as well.

Tracfone uses GSM in some areas, CDMA in some areas, but they don't use
iDEN which is what Boost uses.

Incidentally, Sprint offers the same $50 deal on their CDMA network but
they don't advertise it at all. You have to go to a store and ask about
it. Then you have to do some maneuvers to get a Sprint smart phone
activated on the $50 plan. Also the $50 plan on Sprint is subject to
additional fees and taxes, while I believe the $50 Boost plan is all
inclusive. There is no roaming on the $50 Sprint plan, for voice or
data, which makes it not all that useful if you ever go outside urban areas.
