To the two or three folks who own the 6215i and who read this froup,
I wasted an inordinate amount of time noodling around with the
main screen, trying to get a decent wallpaper image (from a digital
photo I'd taken). If you're interested in doing something similar,
this might save you some time.
First, while the display is 128x128 pixels, wallpaper is only
allowed in a 128x99 pixel window. Images of any other size are scaled
to fit 128x99. Next, the topmost 16 rows and bottommost 17 rows are
partially obscured by semitransparent menu bars. So while your image
should be 128x99, only 128x66 are clearly visible.
So to set your own wallpaper, use your favorite graphics tool
(e.g., Paint.NET, GIMP, etc.) to scale the desired image to 128x99,
keeping in mind that the top 16 & bottom 17 rows will be partially
obscured. Save to disk. (I used JPEG; not sure what other formats
are supported.) Email the image to your phone at
(yourNumber) @ vzwpix . com
(you don't need to have Web 2.0 or an account at
www.vzwpix.com).
When the message is downloaded to the phone, view it, and under
Options, select Save to Pix. Go to the Tools menu, select Display
options, Wallpaper, and select the image.
Cheers,
-Jeremy
PS. Now, if anyone knows how to download ringtones w/o subscribing to
Web 2.0,
I'd love to know about it.
