Default 6230 / 6230i Bluetooth

I have been using a 6230 for some time now and I've been happy.

I've recently been given a used but perfectly functional 6230i and after
getting over the prettier screen and nicer camera relative to my 6230 I've
settled down into using it... except I find that using the same headset, the
voice quality is inferior to the 6230. This is a little disappointing!

Could this be down to inferior GSM reception or is it the Bluetooth
connectivity, or am I just unlucky with this handset?

Could just be so simple that the 6230i has EDR while the 6230 only has
standard Bluetooth (sadly I can't find the information on their web page, but
a hcitool scan should give you the answer). With increased bandwidth on the
Bluetooth, the more data you can send in the same time, which allows you to
send better quality sound.

Perhaps - perhaps if the 6230i has the higher specification Bluetooth it is
less capable at the ordinary setting? My 6230 sounds _better_ than the
6230i...

Okay, I misunderstood you, got it the other way around. You may be unlucky
with the headset or the firmware on the 6230i is buggy (Upgrades may be better
left for some Nokia workshop who can fix things if the upgrade fails).
