Default 6300 usb silly question

Hello I've just lost a Nokia 5300 and so had to replace it. As this version
has been discontinued I bought the more expensive 6300 model. When I opened
to box I discovered that it came with no data transferring USB cable. I then
discovered that my existing DKE-2 cable that came with the 5300 should also
work on the new phone.
In the instructions it shows a quite wide USB connector similar in shape to
the plug on the cable. BUT on the phone the connector is blocked by a piece
of plastic with the USB symbol on it. Now there is no mention of this in the
book, or indeed anywhere on the Web.
Does anyone know what is going on. Have I got a faulty phone or do I need to
force and break this plastic off?
Thanks.

it will fall off on its own after moderate use, may phones just have the
bare socket in the first place
