Getting rid of provider's items on cell phones

Why is it some phone provider's items you can delete off your cell and other
items you can't.

Like I bought a nokia 3220 cell. I unlocked it like I usually do.
Then I go through my cells and free up memory so I can upload my own
favorite ringer tones, games, and images. U know personlize my phone

Now some of the t-mobile (in this case) items I can delete off the cell.
Where others when I try to delete the delete isn't even an option to pick
from.

Why is that?
and is there a way I can get around it so I can get those last few items off
for good?

I mean it's a nokia & t-mobile had to get their stuff on it somehow right?
So it should come off correct?

Many providers have bastardised firmware especially written for Nokia to
load on their phone's. They insist on having their crap loaded into the
ROM.

In effect you cannot delete this crap, you cannot make use of this
memory in any case. So even if it was removed you could not make use of
this space for additional apps or data.

Because some of the items are contained in the firmware that is uploaded to
the handset. The offending items will be contained in the PPM or CNT packs
depending on the handset, provider and market area.

You could get the phone flashed with generic uncustomised firmware.

No. Nokia will create, supply and flash the customised firmware for a
provider as large as T-Mobile to their specifications.

I understand why they put it on them it's just their way of being
able to promote themselves through the phone. Or sell their company.

I didn't do to bad (in my books) I got rid of all their pics except
for 2 images in the graphics folder.
And I didn't lose any of the memory.
I had to of recovered the memory back. Otherwise I wouldn't of
had room to to put my pics on my phone. And I could he-he yep all
30 some and still haved plenty of memory still open.

What can I say I just like customizing my phones to my
preferance and so they are different.

I had a feeling the filmware was involved somewhere in this.

is that easy enough to find? I mean I've seen filmware upgrades for the
spefic models per say.
BUT I have never came acrossed a generic one.

If I would find one, now would I lose all the prior items in the phone or
just
the providers? I like the nokia pinball game is why I was asking.

If I would then it's no biggy I'll just deal with the few items I can't get
out.
The main questions that started this thread I've just always wondered about.
And wanted to ask, never hurts to broaden my knowledge on my cell phone

would an unbranding take providers things out. I read somewhere I thought I
could be wrong. That it help return items back to manufactor's content
only.

You have done well, some providers are much worse than other's,
completely removing valuable features in the phone!

I recently had an argument with a provider here in Australia who
deliberately removed a feature that prevented me locking the phone into
GSM or 3G. This resulted in calls continually dropping calls in fringe
areas and they kept denying it.

I eventually proved them to be lying and they finally admitted to doing
it for /commercial/ reasons, then they said I had 7 days to leave them
for /commercial/ reasons!

Very much so.

As an end user you're highly unlikely to. The 3220 is not on Nokias Update
Server, and the likelihood is that it never will be.

It depends what you use to flash the phone, and which parts of the firmware
you flash. If you flash just the MCU & PPM, chances are that most if not
all of the user content will remain intact. Flashing the CNT and/or the PM
will usually result in losing everything already on the handset as will
setting phone/flash defaults after the flashing procedure.

Yes. The phone would be flashed with generic firmware suitable for your
market area.
