You disapprove of listening to an iPod while walking down the street?

You disapprove of talking on the phone while walking down the street?

yeah, guess that makes sense... if your computer doesn't work with
modern software like Phlink.

yeah, but I don't like to pay for something that is already free, i
guess we differ on that. I like to use modern technology to free me from
old fashioned expenses... you like to pay, and pay, and pay, without
questioning "why".

Not really, i can using coconut wifi to find an open wifi point anywhere
I'm at, so if you know how to use tools you are online within minutes.

http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutwifi/index.html

I've never said "wifi" is everywhere... yet, but it will be, it's only a
matter of time.

But for me in a modern city, wifi is available 90% of the time during my
life, that's enough, 10% is for resting.

i've never said i knew SJ personally, you are digging yourself deeper in

so ms goldberg didn't have anything to do with smalltalk, if i'm wrong,

i'm staying faithful to the topic at hand, the iPhone. Do you have one?
Can you talk about it's history? Probably not, I rest my case.

the same as you apparently... MT-NewsWatcher/3.5.2

nobody with any knowledge of USENET would be using Microsoft Outlook is
all I'm saying.

and sure, you don't fall under that category, but you still haven't said

No, I claim I don't use WiFi while driving, or walking down the street,
but 90% of the "time", I have full access to wifi.

> Which is it? You can find an open wifi point anywhere, or you can't?

You must be getting up in age? I suspect you are nearing 76 years old?

I can find a wifi point anywhere I want, but since my life is well
constructed, I don't need to "find" it, it's already everywhere I go 90%
of the time, and 100% of the time when I "need it"...

is that better for you... old man?

yes, it has a sound featuure that "plinks" when it has an open
connection, so i can drive a few blocks, (not using wifi while driving)
then "plink", now I know I'm online "where I'm at". done, I'm online.

it's rare i ever need to do this now, but it was fun a year or so ago.

Haha, this is funny, I could give a sh*t about the iPhone or this
pissing match, but it is amusing some of it.

If you are so smart and the iPhone is not using ethernet, what type
of frames is it sending over that 802.11 wireless connection? Is it still
using Appletalk? Maybe Tokering? Please, do tell us how it isn't using
ethernet.

Why did you decide to pay $599 for an iPhone AND pay ATT for cell phone
service.
That is really dumb. I just continue to use my FREE cell phone with a cheap
cell plan.

What the hell is wrong with a guy who KNOWS that technology changes,
but it absolutely certain that a specific wireless protocol is going to
be around for many many years?

This is a MORONIC conversation, guys -- WiFi simply IS NOT the
equivalent service to cell service. Even the idiots in this
conversation can see it.
So stop, guys. You're making no good points any more.

No, Justin, 90 percent isn't even a little close to 'everywhere.' The
context of cell phone service means at least matching THAT availability
-- which is much higher than 90 percent of where people are, at all
times.

If they lose a call even once a week, people care enought to switch
carriers even before they know how good the next one will be. It's a
big deal.

90 percent available in only the most dense cities and only the places
where you are two-thirds of your life? Even if you were right, which is
unlikely, and clearly not even CLOSE to an alternative!

My home phone is available 100% of he time I need to use it. And my work
phone is available 100% of the time I need to use it.
I don't use either of these when walking around or driving thus they are
available 100% of the time when I need to use them.

Why do you just give it up fanboy. Contrary to what you posted, they could
not sell enough iPhones at the original price point to make money, so they
cut the price. So much for your change the world theory. Now just shut up.

And yes, I am using Outlook and yes I am top posting. What are you gonna do,

Your poor reading skills are once again your undoing.

Your stupidity is no surprise to anybody after all the times you've
displayed it in this NG.

yes, sdram is stuck in my head from about 20 years of desktop ram, nand
flash ram is the "term" for what goes into these devices...

It varies by state and by interpretation. Intentionally connecting to
someone's router without permission is illegal, but the question is what
constitutes intent and what constitutes permission. Many businesses and
governments provide Wi-Fi and implicitly or explicitly grant permission
to use their networks, but that didn't stop the prosecution of that guy
who sat in his car outside a coffee house using their WiFi connection.
The owner of the coffee house didn't even care, but some cop with
nothing else to do took it upon himself to do some enforcement.

A lot of unauthorized connections are unintentional as well. I have my
own WiFi at home, but sometimes my computer will connect to the local
free WiFI (MetroFi) or to a neighbor's unsecured network.

Many individuals intentionally leave their network unsecured, trying to
create more free WiFi spots. However there is no way to know if an
unsecured network is because someone doesn't know how or doesn't want to
bother to set up secure access, or if it's because they are okay with
others using their network.

And you're not passing this saving along to your clients?

When they realise you've short changed them they'll be ex-clients...
