Default N70 and SatNav Receiver

Mornin'

I have a nice little receiver paired to my N70. (As seen
http://tinyurl.com/2vx8rk )
Mostly it all works fin using TT5.*, but some days the warning message on
the N70 says No GPS receiver and I have to keep going through the find me
and set routine for the receiver on the phone in TT5.*.

Anyone else have the same issues?

N70 has latest software/firmware, on a powered holder, not behind a
"special" windscreen and latest maps that will run with TT5.*

Also is it really worth adding an external aerial and if so what *is* the
size/type of that little brass input plug!

Have you paired the GPS unit with your phone and set it as Authorised?
This could make a difference.

I haven't but I am about to install TT5 myself.

It depends where you sit or mount the GPS unit in your vehicle, if it
is up on the dash near the window then it really won't make much
difference, but if you want to mount it under the dash and out of site
then it would probably be a good idea.

Chances are it is an MMCX plug that fits it, they seem to be common
for the GPS receivers.

I use TT5 with my 6680 and quite often get the "no gps device" message
even though it is paired and set to "authorised". I find the quickest
(and surest) way to overcome this is to power the phone off and then on
again - works every time :-)

When I had the Nokia 6680 I was regularly power cycling it. The main
reason was the lack of RAM in the phone.

I am much happier now I have the Nokia N70 as it has ample internal
memory and RAM, although 80% of my apps reside on the RS-MMC still.
With the 6680 100% of the apps had to be in the RS-MMC and I still had
to hope for the best.

Hmmm, that always works for me too.

It's paired fine, and set to authorised, but randomly loses the Bluetooth
connection or the signal.
No pattern, no warning, no other symptoms.

Maybe I'll get a WM5 driven phone and install TT6 sometime.

Cheers people for help

Hi Simon,

For sure the woefully inadequate internal memory of the 6680 is the
problem here, plus the fact that when you've used an application and
closed it down not all of the memory is released again. I frequently
have to open the memory card slot door to clear apps from memory.

But hey! I love this phone ... and it was free - my son works for Orange
and gets a new phone every year :-)

I have:
V 5.0638.3.01
18-09-06
RM-84

I wish they would put a car kit option in the enhancement menu!

I may be wrong but usually Nokia phones only display options in the
enhancements menu once the enhancement has been connected for the first
time.

Yes, but I have placed my Nokia N70 in my Nokia car kit and it does
not appear. I don't believe it was included in this model.
