Default n73 and vista unplugging

Ok so I've got a n73 and vista ultimate 32bit, my problem is I can't
safely remove hardware to stop my phone when in mass storage mode. It
says it has been stopped successfully but then my phone still says it
is in mass storage mode. If I just unplug it then it corrupts the
memory card. What I have to do is stop it then restart my computer
then wait till my phone says it can be unplugged.
Any ideas on how to fix this

Thanks in advance

It does this with XP home, so maybe normal.
