Default N97 - Any comments from people who have used it?

When the N97 was launched earlier in the year, a lot of the first
reviews predicted there would be problems with the flimsy slider. A
number of firmware bugs were also reported.

Now that it has been around for a few months, could any N97 owner
comment on any problems they've had with the phone?

I believe that a new firmware release for the N97 is coming out soon.

Chris

What about the slider mechanism? Has it shown any problems, or is it
more resilient than the reviews suggested it might be?

I've had mine a few months now, not had any problems with the slider -
seems fairly sturdy to me. I often flick it open and shut when i get
fidgety. My screen does freeze every now and again. One annoying thing
i have found is that you don't exit a application, you get a annoying
icon next to all the apps that are still open - that can be call log,
txts, game, pics, web etc.

Um...it's called 'multitasking'. The icon is to indicate that the
application is already running in the background. If you want to close
the application, choose 'exit' from the menu, or press the call
disconnect key.
If you want to switch from one app to another-just hold down the menu
key, and it will show up a list of running apps.
Or you can install Handy Task Manager, which works like the regular task
manager in Windows- it shows a list of apps, memory usage (RAM/phone
memory/memory card) and even lets you close/kill apps that are not
responding.

There's this little site called google.com, you may have heard of it.
Go there and search for N900 reviews, you'll find tons of links.
