Nokia 3gp won't play on nokia media player - codec?

Download VLC and install for free. Best video player on the planet. Even
has its own codecs unhobbled by corporation bullshit.

VLC will play anything, much to the MPAA's dismay who sued them.

Mate has a 6280 and has recorded a short video which plays back fine on
phone.
Has used Nokia PC suite to transfer to pc, where it opens in Nokia
multimedia player, but plays only sound - with a swirly pattern effect
instead of video.

Any ideas?
