I do all but sleep with my N800. You must make me a promise,
however......
I know it will be hard, it is for me, but try NOT to laugh at that guy
showing off his iPhoney SELLphone that doesn't run all this neat
software.
I call iPhone the "Mobile WebTV".....(c;

Watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QiFb...eature=related
which shows the VNC SERVER and VNC Viewer operating the N800 by REMOTE
CONTROL from a regular Windows PC. The server runs on the Linux tablet
and is accessed by the Client running on the PC from anywhere on the
net.
Pretty neat stuff comes out every day...(c;

We have an iPhone "emulator" that was just bound to happen, sooner or
later.

Go to this website and have a look around. Pay particular attention to
click on "INTERNET TABLET SCHOOL", which also has a great set of youtube
videos with total setup videos on things like setting up the N800 email
program to work with Google Mail, etc. Tablet school probably has all
you're looking for and can answer lots of your questions. The listing
for his tutorials is here:

---------------------------------and finally.....
I have upgraded my N800 to the latest OS2008 version, using the Windows
installer which makes reloading the OS child's play. However, as the
tablet school tells you DO NOT RESTORE os2007 SETTINGS to the 2008
upgrade. It screws it and that hasn't been fixed.
I ran the new OS2008 a couple of weeks but missed all the 206 apps from
OS2007 that haven't been ported to 2008, yet. 2008 also seemed to use
more memory and run slower than the simpler 2007 the N800 comes with. I
ran out of memory for no reason with far fewer apps installed than the
huge list of apps on OS2007, which ran fine.
So, I REinstalled OS2007, again with the Windows installer, and reloaded
only the software I really was using.....not all the stuff I did when I
was a noob...(c;
Don't be in too much of a hurry to upgrade to OS2008, just because it's
there. It's got some bugs the Linux geniuses that make this tablet so
great will soon iron out for us...and Nokia, I suppose. A few hundred
Linux hackers are working around the clock on it across the planet.
They'll fix it, THEN I'll re-install it, yet again.
Every time you reload the operating system, you start up with a brand
new tablet with NOTHING ON IT, so save your data off to one of the two
memory cards and do a backup, anyways, so you can come back quickly
without all the typing.
Well, I see you're on your way to "Tablet School"...(c;
Be nice to the poor saps stuck with iPhones and contracts, ok. I do try
not to laugh, but am not always successful. Even just making a Skype
call on the tablet can make them very angry if they are in earshot.
They can't run anything on their box.....a SELLphone by design.
