address book DUPLICATES duplicates

I use Missing Sync for Android to sync the Evo with my MacBook Pro (OS
10.6.3).

In the Address Book on my Mac, there aren't any duplicate entries. On
my Evo, there are duplicates and quadruplicates of nearly every
address. Is the duplication a result of my Google contacts? How can I
permanently delete all of the dupes on my phone?
