"Korean" is not necessarily a bad thing. The Korean auto brands --
Kia, Daewoo and Hyundai -- all sucked ass when they were introduced. I
don't think Daewoo is in the US anymore, but Hyundai has really turned
the corner on quality, and then they bought Kia and turned them around
too. Our 2005 Kia Sedona EX minivan -- bought new in February 2006 --
has had zero quality problems, has a five-star safety rating, and as a
bonus, even without the end-of-year bonuses and a $500 Kia owner
loyalty bonus we got for trading a used Rio -- the top-of-the-line EX
was cheaper than any other vehicle in its class at $29,000. As it is,
with all of the rebates, we didn't even pay $22,000 for it.
I would buy another Kia vehicle in a heartbeat.
Closer to on-topic... my two Sprint cell phones were Samsungs (another Korean
brand!) and were terrific phones. The only reason I own a Nokia now is because
T-Mobile doesn't carry a Samsung phone with the features I want, or hasn't,
anyhow. Nokia is my alternative to having to deal with Motorola's crappy
customer service and shoddy product quality -- but if I could find a Samsung
with the right feature set, I'd consider buying it next time I'm ready to
upgrade.
