If you truly love the 8300, then why not try ebay or some other sorce
for the device?
here is a current link for one that is being sold on ebay, and they
say they have several of them
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sanyo-MM-8300-Sp...QQcmdZViewItem
They even list this phones esn so you can call and make sure it can be
activated.
You are correct in that the Katana's I and II do not have video
capability other than taking pictures, however I notice you
did not include video taking as one of your requirements, so if this
is NOT all that big of an issue for you, the katana II
may be just the thing for you, other than searching ebay and others as
suggested earlier. In regards to fringe coverage
however, I would have to defer to someone elses expertise as I do not
live in a fringe area so it is hard for me to judge.
There are no windows mobile devices that have been released recently
that do not require
powervision. And you really cannot have a powervision device and
still have the vision plan as it typically simply will not work
at all with just the vision, IF the system will even allow the device
and vision to co-exist without forcing the agent to
make a change in order to save the device change.
New devices are released all throughout the year, so there really is
not a 'season' so to speak,
but most carriers seem to release more devices around the october-
november range to build interest just
before christmas.
