MicroSD memory size on Rumor Touch?

The Rumor Touch instruction manual warns against using MicroSD chips less
than 16Gb claiming it can damage the phone. However, when I google
'microsd "rumor touch"' I find multiple vendors selling 2Gb - 8Gb chips,
claiming they're for the Rumor Touch. Anyone know the gospel truth?
