Default Sprint phone in Japan??

I use a Treo 755p on U.S. Sprint. Will it roam in Japan's CDMA
environment? Or does it make sense to rent a phone in Japan?

Thanks.

Japan does not use CDMA, only W-CDMA on 2100Mhz not compatible with CDMA
phones.

Speak to your carrier about options but generally it's better just to rent
one. you may be able to have your calls forwarded though. You may find a US
company that will rent you a Japanese phone and you can have it delivered
before you leave.

Do a Google search on Japanese cell phone rental

Yes, as KDDI's "AU" service switches transmit and receive frequencies
to those used by the rest of the world, your phone will work more and
more.

People have reported being able to send text messages via their Sprint
phones back to the US and this was late last year.
