Default USB cable

I have a Sprint 3100 picture phone that was a hand me down. I never
really needed the camera feature, but I went to an event and did take
some pictures with it.

I am considering getting a USB cable for it now. If I get one, will
this be a standard cable for future Sprint phones are they using
another type that would make this cable worthless for anything but my
current phone?

sprint doesn't make phones.
You need to determine the actual manufacturer.

If it is anything but a mini-usb plug at the phone end, it'll be
proprietary and it'll be quite likely that even other phones made by
the same maker won't be compatible.
