Default Virgin Mobile - $25 plan unlimited data (Samsung phone)

Our son at college just let me know that a new Samsung phone
will join the ranks at Virgin Mobile and their "unlimited" plans...
http://www.virginmobileusa.com/cell-...talk-plans.jsp

He is thinking of moving from our Verizon Family plan
over to the Virgin Mobile $25 plan and purchase the Samsung phone...

If you take the phone outright purchase price of $250,
and spread it across say 2 years - like the other carriers -
the amortized cost would be about $25 + $10.50 or $35.40/month.

BTW - This is just a simple post about the $25 plan and the new Samsung
phone.
The coverage from Sprint is fine for the intended locations,
so this thread hopefully will not degenerate into the usual "coverage"
rants.....

The only problem I've had with Virgin Mobile is their website support
for ALL their phones. It's like each manufacturer brings a phone to the
table
that merely "runs" on the VM/Sprint network and there is no coordinated
effort
to have ALL the phones work with the system & website for various simple
features like CONTACTS.
There is no frigging way to Import or Export or even Display your phone's
contacts
without jumping thru some 3rd party software hoops - really dumb -

It is indeed a great deal. Even if he sometimes needs to go on trips
outside Sprint's native area he could keep the old Verizon phone active
for $2.50 a month on PagePlus.

Personally, I'm interested in the MetroPCS unlimited plans now that they
offer extra-cost off-network roaming onto other CDMA networks. $40 a
month for unlimited everything and 19-cents a minute off network
roaming. Not as cheap as the Virgin plan, but still a good deal.

the only issue with the new Samsung Intercept phone might be
that it is only 3G EVDO REV 0 vs the recent REV A
REV 0 = 400-1000k down and 50-100k up
REV A = 600-1400k down and 500-800k up

So uploading a photo or sending a photo might be a problem with REV 0 -
