I've completely lost cellular service throughout Michigan
(inlcuding t-mobile native areas), starting at
roughly noon.
Whn the phone is in "auto" mode, it simply shows
a "blank space", so to speak, where I should
have the network name.
When I put the phone into "manual" search mode, it
shows me both TM and AT&T. Clicking TM gets me
something like "no netork access".
Thanks

Very wierd situation... still off line. Had a half
hour typewriter-chat with t-m customer service rep
(I had a wifi hot spot) which was a waste of time...
.... rep kept telling me her map said I wasn't in a t/m
location. I pointed her to the public map which said
I was in a solid area... and that my phone, in manual
mode... showed me t-mobile as an option. But wouldn't
let me connect.
Once I'm at a location with a physical phone I'll
try calling in again.
- anyone else notice how there are damn few public
phones anymore? sigh.
thanks

Right, danny. They all got taken out 'cuz everyone had a cellphone, and
didn't "need no steenkin' payphone" :-) . Now that you only need 'em when
your cellphone is out, we see the payphone got the last laugh, singin'
Will you miss me when I'm gone?

not seeing any problems in Apple Valley, CA (in the desert northeast of

update, was: anyone bumping into t-mobile outages today?

well, I'm still off servce 36 or so hours, and two chats
with Customer Service, later...
The first communication was yesterday, via text-chat. I was
at a location with wifi so could connect up, via their
web page... but couldn't talk.
a: just about no payphones left. I was in a shopping mall
which used ot have a dozen. I figured they'd have
kept one in their custoemr service/foodcourt area. Nope
b: T-Mobile really, really, should have an audio chat option
over the internet. Like, you know, Skype. Or a thousand
other alternatives...
Anyway, the first rep confirmed I wasn't hooking up. But
she said it was because I was in an AT&T roaming area
and they didn't have a roaming contract with AT&T.
a: my _billing_ address is in AT&T. Fortunately, that
section still has roaming, and an earlier CSR said
that thanks to the collapse of the breakup, the
roaming qould continue.
b: I had received a phone call in that roaming area
around noon. That was the last time the phone
worked. I was driving eastward and got to t-mobile
native towers about a half hour later.
c: despite my continued pointing out to her my new
location (that is, where I was...) and her repeating
it back to me, she said her system said it was
an AT&T roam... oh, and I even told her that
I pulled up the public TM coverage map while
chatting with her and it showed me smack in the
middle of solid TM coverage.
Sigh.
This morning I was at a landline and called up a TM CSR
via voice. She walked me through all the various trouble
shooting steps... and figuratively shook her head without
being able to resolve it. She suggested I drop by a TM
store and have them swap the SIM, thinking it might
be what she called "SIM decay".
We'll see tomorrow...
My other TM services, basically two lines of "TM at home"
(their pseudo no-longer-offered VOIP arrangement) are
working fine....

Danny, 2nd Tier Tech lingo to spring on them:
"Maybe I've been wiped from the H.L.R., can you check that, please?"
Here "H.L.R." is the "Home Location Register|Registry", and if that
gets reset then T-Mo has no idea that your handset deserves service.
It's happened to me several times that my HLR got mangled -- mostly,
actually, while I've been out of the country, where getting hold of T-Mo CS
is particularly awkward w/o a working T-Mo phone :-) .
Good luck -- HTH -- and cheers, -- tlvp

This morning I stopped at a company owned t-Mobile store,
and they swapped SIMS. (Copied all teh old info).
It's working now.
- time to send off a note to TM asking about credit...
