T-Mobile - You lied to me. I ordered an HTC MyTouch 4G, and you sent me
a phone. But in the ads you're running on TV, there is a hot brunette in
a pink and white dress, claiming she's a MyTouch 4G. I think your TV ads
are misleading.

Your error, Steve. As you say,
you ordered an *HTC* MyTouch 4G,
not a *hot brunette* MyTouch 4G.
Be more careful in the future :-) .

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to order one of her as well, but I
won't give up my grandfatgerex plan if they're just going to send me a
phone!

T-Mobile has your welfare at heart, they knew you'd be dead of
exhaustion in a week if they sent the brunette! Smiling but still
dead.....

At least she is still a pretty good look-alike for Zeta-Jones.

As for that grandfathered plan, Todd, watch out that it doesn't happen to you what just happened to me: the no-charge, unmetered, world-wide t-Zones data access rights that I'd had for the first 10 years of my old t-Zones Talk'n'Text plan (grandfathered over from my even older VoiceStream iStream Talk'n'Text plan), have now, as of my latest billing statement, gotten metered ... and payable when roaming (!).
I have a ticket in with T-Mo contesting that as an unannounced tariff change ... we'll see what transpires.

Oh come on, he thought that HTC stood for
Hot Tanned Chick, which is an honest mistake ;o)
> Be more careful in the future :-) .
the ad should have stated, Hot Tanned Chick
not included.

Your plan is so old that I think the Terms and Conditions we're chisled
on stone tablets brought down from Mt. Sinai!
T-Mo now counts my T-Zones usage (they never used to- the OLAM web page
and my printed bills always reported "zero") but so far (touch wood) it
still says I have unlimited data.
As to roaming, I've always heard T-Mo didn't count count roaming T-Zones
data due to a bug (the "zero" counter) rather than policy. From posts on
HowardForums, charging for data roaming started when T-Mo started
counting MBs and reporting them on bills. When traveling
internationally, I always turned data off just in case, so I don't know
if I missed a free data roaming boondoggle or not.

I *think* what'll happen is they'll tell you "You're absolutely right
so if you want to leave we'll waive the ETF." AFAIK that's the ONLY
relief they'll offer.
That's probably of absolutely NO value to you but it was to me, I was
sold a non-existant plan (they changed plans about the time I signed on
and hadn't changed their website or notified their people!) so I agreed
to their no termination fee, took the phone back to Costco and got it
refunded, then went back to VZW for awhile until some new phone and
plans came along.

On a positive note: the MyTouch 4G is an AWESOME phone.

How do you feel about all the extra T-Mo apps. A lot of reviewers
found it annoying and preferred the pure Google Android experience. How
do you feel about the battery life?
Can you do Skype video chats with it?

(a) No one has to actually use the T-Mo apps.
(b) I think the Genius Button app works MUCH better than the stock
Google voice-dial app.
I used to love VoiceSignal (the software), to the extent that I would
not buy a cell phone without it. Nuance bought VoiceSignal (the company)
and Dragon (the PC voice recognition company), and their software powers
the Genius Button App. It's like the old VoiceSignal software on
steroids; I think it works quite well. Two thumbs up.
> Can you do Skype video chats with it?
Haven't tried. I HAVE streamed live video to the web, which is done
using Qik.com. That works pretty well.

Heh ... I've been on that plan so long there's no longer an ETF to waive :-) .

I've not yet concocted a suitable Google Search-string for leading me to the relevant HoFo page(s).
Got any pointer, Todd?

Mmm ... that happened, rather on and off, some time ago, but always showing
zero charges, whether for domestic t-Zones access or international.

You and I had *different* G-fathered plans, so I won't venture to hazard a guess.

Thanks, Todd. I must say, it will be hard to accept restraining myself, while abroad, from using the cell phone to link, via t-Zones, to the .WML version of my primary email account, should T-Mo persist in treating such linking as a chargeable activity.

Not really- this happened a couple of years ago- maybe make sure your
search goes back far enough (IIRC, HoFo's display default is 30 days.)

True- many folks previously reported "free"T-Zones data roaming and were
shocked when suddenly getting big bills adter traveling. I wasn't
willing to risk it.

I guess the real question is if you were previously supposed to get free
roaming as part of your plan, or if you were just basking in the glory of
a system error that didn't count the data usage. The T-Zones users
complaining on HoFo weren't supposed to get free roaming, of course.

Now *that* we'll never know, as the terms of my plan were never set in
anything other than electrons on the T-Mo web site, and electrons are
notably volatile -- *especially* those on the T-Mo web site :-) .
I can no longer find the terms of *my* plan *anywhere*.

Nor can I for mine. I used to have an old brochure on hand just in case
T-Mo ever needed reminding, but I lost it some time ago.
Not that it really matters- grandfathered plans exist at the operator's
whim, so they can pull the plug at any time.
