Default Skype on Android phone

The other day I installed the Skype app on my new HTC Amaze 4G phone but
I get frustrated by not having any control of when to run and when to
exit it. The darn thing automatically starts whenever I turn on the
Wi-Fi or 4G and sets itself in on-line status even if last time I had it
on was off-line. Then when it's running I find no way to exit the app
except turning off data connection. I can't find any exit button on that
app. That's odd because the PC version does have it. Having no app exit
button is something common with Android Apps? That would be pretty
counterintuitive IMHO.

Your Android should be able to natively kill any app manually:
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> (click on an
application) -> click "Force Stop" button

That's one hellofa long way to go about it. But someone must have
listened at Skype because the latest update a few days ago actually
accomplished what I was looking for.
