Is there anyway to turn off the TMobile music when you turn the phone on
and off? I looked through the settings but didn't see anything. I hate
turning the phone on or off in public and having that dumb soundfile play.

I don't see a model 3555 anywhere on T-Mo's "phones" web page. May be a
discontinued model.
I can tell you that every T-Mobile phone I've owned has a setting to
turn off the startup/shutdown tones. Who's your phone's manufacturer?

It's a Nokia 3555, and yes they no longer have it at TMobile.

Google "Nokia 3555 download manual"

No, there's an easier way. Log into the My T-Mobile website, using your
phone number and your My T-Mobile password. The website should correctly
identify your phone as a Nokia 3555, and you should see a link to
download the manual.

I already have the manual and there is nothing in there about turning
off the start up shut down music that TMobile sends to the phone.

Thanks, Bert. I can't even find a place on this phone where it says
startup file. And I didn't get this phone from TMobile. I bought it
unlocked off eBay. And I've looked everywhere to try and find out where
those tones come from and I can't find a thing.

My T-Mo-branded Nokia 6030 has that anoying "feature" as well. While
I've never found a way to turn it off, I've noticed that immediately
pressing the "end" key after turnin the phone on or off mutes the jingle.
With luck, perhaps your 3555 works the same way.

Mine's a different Nokia (6610), but there's a "Start-up tone" entry
in the Phone Settings sub-menu of the top-level Settings menu, which
is [grayed-out, and (irrevocably)] set to ON.
Perhaps if you set your Profile to Silent before switching off,
there won't be an audible start-up tone when you switch back on?
You just have to remember to return to your normal profile ... .
Was that any help? Hope so. Either way, cheers,

The Motorola startup tunes come from hidden files that can't be seen using
the phone's file browser; yours is probably done the same way.
I used one of the many Motorola "modding" tools, but since you're using
another maker's phone, you're going to have to find the hacker community
that plays with your brand of phone if you want that kind of help. A place
to start might be http://www.howardforums.com/.
If you do choose to start playing with the innards of your phone, be
careful. It's easy to turn your phone into a useless brick.

Carole,
The Nokia Software Suite is available from Nokia, costs $0.00, and may
be just the ticket. I forget where you can download it; you'll have to
check Google.

That works!! Thanks so much!! That feature is mega annoying, not to
mention that if you turn the phone on or off in public, everyone looks
at you. UGH!

Unfortunately, I can't get the phone to connect to it. In fact, this
phone won't connect to the PC Suite, the Nokis Multimedia Transfer
program, and you can't iSync it either

Thanks, Bert. I think I'll just hit the end key as suggested. That works
fine

In the infinite wisdom of marketing departments, T-Mobile has disabled
that option in many of their Nokias. The option appears light grey and
inaccessible in the menu.
