T-Mobile is the wireless division of Germany's Deutsche Telekom, a landline
telco there. They operate in many countries in Europe. They bought
Voicestream years ago and rebranded it T-Mobile. Click on the
"International" link at the bottom of T-Mobile.com to get an idea of their
scope.
Apple negotiates an exclusive deal with one wireless provider in each
country, so T-Mo sells it in a few countries they operate in,but not all.
Vodaphone, another multi-country wireless operator (and 45% owner of
Verizon Wireless here in the US) is in the same boat.
