Will AT&T unlock phones (for overseas use)?

Years ago before I traveled overseas, I asked t-mobile to unlock my gsm phone
and they did it. I was using prepaid plan and I think you have to have been a
customer for more than 6 months before they would unlock the phone.

If AT&T acquire t-mobile, is this service likely to continue, or stop?

AT&T unlocks phones on request too, so it is likely that a merged company
would have the same policy.

Even if the AT&t acquire T-mobile the network provider will give the unlock code... Otherwise you can go for online providers who give unlock codes.. I unlocked my mobile at Unlocking4free.com at free of cost.. By giving your IMEI number you can unlock your mobile here very quickly....
