Default Any way to order the HTC Touch Pro without adding a Data Plan

I'm trying to order the HTC Touch Pro. When I go to the Verizon web
site, it requires that I choose either

Email and Web for Smartphone Your Price: $29.99/month
Unlimited Data Usage Your Price: $44.99/month

I don't want either of these. I just want to use the phone on WiFi,
which is ubiquitous in my area.

Or can I choose one of those add-ons then cancel it later?

New Verizon policy states that as of sometime in mid-late November, all
smartphones sold MUST be sold with a data plan of some sort (no more "Pay as
you Go" and no more "No Data Plan")

No. As of November 14th, all new smartphone activations require a data
plan, regardless of how the phone is acquired. (Meaning it's not a
discount/subsidy thing, but a hard policy. Even if you buy off eBay or pay
full unsubsidized price, you're stuck with at least a $30 data plan.)
There's been a lot of screaming at Howardforums.com over this.

Verizon's supposed "reasoning" is that too many users without data plans
were being hit with outrageous a la carte data charges if they didn't know
how to limit data use on their phones.

Personally, I'd pay full price and activate one on PagePlus before I paid
$45/month for data. WiFi will work, of course, and PP now offers
pay-as-you-go data (expensive, but ok to check to email in a pinch.)

It's $539 full price, $339 more than a 2 year contract with $30/month
data. I'd rather keep it for two years on Verizon then switch to
PagePlus with it, since it'd only be $21 more.

Actually, it the cancellation fee is still only $175...

I want a small device to take on trips, but I think I'll forget the
Touch Pro and get the Acer Aspire One running XP for $349 at Costco.
