Default Backup Assistant problems

I couldn't login to my Backup Assistant on the VZW website this afternoon
and the online chat CSR said that BA-- which she kept calling backup
"assistance" had been "redone" today and everyone needed to re-download and
reinstall.

What's that all about?

Mine got hosed over the Memorial Day weekend (traveled from NC to
Atlanta and back) along with Mobile Web 2.0 (both need data network
access). I got on the phone (landline ;-) with Vzw support, but the 1st
level could not get me going again (did several #22899 updates), so he
passed me on to level 2, and he had me re-install BA, but no-go until he
did several tweaks ("account settings" I think he said), and finally
both BA and MW started working again.

I was wondering if it was just me and/or my trip ...

Customer Service did the job eventually, so cannot complain about that,
but do wonder just how my settings got messed up to begin with - was it
"The Network"?? ;-)

FWIW,
ROC

I couldn't login to the backup assistant web account on any of the 5
phones on my family account this afternoon either. I could log in
perfectly a few days ago. The CSR tried to login to her personal
account and couldn't either. She sent me to level 2 support who said
there was a BA outage, no forecast for when it would be restored.

OK, so I now got it working again (just did a backup via the phone) but the
phone software is now changed to where it backs up daily. I don't see an
option for manual rather than autobackup.

This is an issue for me as I pay 20 cents each for TXT messages (and I only
send one or two month, if that) and each backup costs one TXT message.

That's $6 per month I don't need to pay them.

Any suggestions?

If you have a "My Verizon Account" and you let it backup by phone
automatically, there is no charge.

There is an option at the BA website to turn off automatic backup. Then it
will only backup when you tell the BA on your phone to backup. I was able to
locate the option but do not remember just exactly where. Maybe someone else
will chime in with the option location.

Mine doesn't charge anything as long as it does it itself and I don't
initiate anything. You should call.

Mine backs up daily and never charges me. FYI, I have no text messaging plan
either, just the 39.99 voice. I've had BA for months and it's great.

I believe you only get charged if you "push" an update from the system (PC)
to the phone.
