What good is it to have a slightly larger screen when the phone itself
is vastly inferior?

I use and like the 700w Treo. If you understand the PPC format, it's
great.
If you are used to Palm OS or Smartphone, you'll bitch about it every
day.
I was VERY excited about the "Q" until I realzed they waisted their time
with Smartphone format, and no touchscreen. Next day I purchased the
Treo.

I've never used the 700p, though my sister had one. Only thing I don't like
about the W is the limited amount of memory. But other than that it has
worked great for my girlfriend. It pretty much does everything she needs.
She gets frustrated with it occasionally but overall she likes it. She uses
it mainly for her phone and calendar (and email over cellular) not much
else.
