Blackberry vs Motorola Q

I'm looking for a device to receive email with for work. I'm not familiar
at all with these types of phones...I guess technology is moving too quick
for me! Anyway, could someone explain what the real differences are between
the Blackberry's and the PDA type phones? Again, my main interest is email
but perhaps other features could come in useful. Any recommendations as to
what's been reported as good vs what to stay away from? I know my questions
are very general, but I'm only just starting to look at these phones and I
really don't know what they are all about, so the questions right now are
really basic. Thanks!

Bob,

I've had both. For me, a blackberry is immensely better. The reason
is I don't have to log on to fetch email. The email looks for me.

Go for the Blackberry, by far.

It offers true push email, and the email application works great. It's an
incredibly stable and reliable system. There are also tons of great 3rd
party applications for the Blackberry that you can use if you would like to,
and for the most part, they all work great.

I agree with the other posts. I had a blackberry went with a Q and just
sent the Q back for a blackberry. Reasons, better battery life by far,
easier to use, must delete emails one by one on Q can delete en mass on
the blackberry, can't immediately download attachements on Q can on the
BB. Q was fragile it scratched when dropped and battery door would come
off. The Verizon reps I have spoken to told me they are getting a lot
of returns on the Q and is part of the reason they recently lowered the

It is a personal preference I think and mostly what you get used to or
biased to. My boss was new to converged devices and got a Q when they first
came out and loved it because it gets email directly pushed from MS Exchange
Server. He doesn't have to delete emails individually as another poster
mentioned ... BUT another coworker does have to delete every email with his
blackberry because he uses his PC client to push the email.

My personal preference is the WM5 devices because they work with MS exchange
email seamlessly! I have a Treo 700w and again love the push mail.
