Is there such a thing as a Verizon phone with bluetooth, but without a
camera? Where I work I can't have a phone with a camera, but I would
dearly love to have a bluetooth phone. I also really don't need all
the bells and whistles on most phones (like MP3 players, web surfing
ability, etc.). All I really want is a good bluetooth phone.
I haven't seen one. I'm sort of in the same boat, only it's just that I
don't WANT a camera (or MP3, web, email, etc etc etc). I just want a
bluetooth headset

Get a camera phone. Drill out the camera aperture in front of the HR
director. Fill it with epoxy. Get a liability waiver from HR. Enjoy
bluetoof.

and be screwed if anything happens to the phone - you just voided your
warranty.

Sorry, won't work. It isn't a HR issue, it's Security. No camera
phones, period, no exceptions. Your suggestion has been tried, and
failed.

Yea, that's pretty silly. For example no one can tell if you
walk in with the same phone tomorrow or if you got it fixed
etc. What you're asking for is a dispensation for *you*.

How badly do you want Bluetooth? They do sell adapters that will allow
you to use a Bluetooth headset with a non-Bluetooth phone. Seems kind
of kludgy, but it might be worth looking into if you really want
Bluetooth.

Guess its good to have a union. They tried to ban them at my work and the
union fought it and they dropped it. One main reason they backed down was
that the arbitrator said that the company provides salaried retirement
parties with a disposable camera, thereby allowing cameras on the property.
Also, our company is affiliated with Agfa and sells disposable cameras in
our company store!
How does your security keep you from walking in with a camera? I've got one
that looks and works like a pen. It takes 800x600 pics. I've got another one
that is on a small keyring that takes 640x480.

When I worked in the Metrology Lab of the Charleston Naval Shipyard, of
course, there was a total camera ban, God forbid......
One of the guys brought his massive VHS camcorder into the shop and fixed
it after work on his workbench full of test equipment before he took it
home. I followed him into the shipyard, just to see what would happen at
the gate with that monstrous papparazzi-looking beast on his shoulder.
Some security, the guard never said a word to him....(c;
There used to be an old shipyard joke about this guy that left the yard
every day wheeling a huge red wheelbarrow full of straw out the gate. The
guards went through his wheelbarrow every day looking to see what he was
stealing. At his retirement party, everyone wanted him to fess up to what
he was stealing.....
Wheelbarrows.

There is an overwhelming compulsion to suggest that you try reasoning with
them, but if they could be reasoned with, you wouldn't have this situation
in the first place. I work for a company that is very sensitive about these
things and required people to go through a lengthy bureaucratic procedure to
get a camera pass if they had a camera on the premises. Finally they
realized how foolish all this looked, and they changed their policy to say
you couldn't use a camera for any non-management-approved purposes. Your
company will likely change their rules the day the CEO decides he needs
Bluetooth on his phone. Do you want to tell us the name of your company so
we can start ridiculing them here, in the hopes that word of this public
ridicule will get back to them?
