You'd be crazy to spend money on that when BitPm is available for
free. http://www.bitpim.org/

So do you guys think I should get Datapilot for the cables and then
download bitpim?

If you're going to use BitPim, then don't buy DataPilot just for the
cable. You can buy the cable here: "http://tinyurl.com/255jd4" for $3.99
plus shipping.

The advantage of getting a Datapilot kit is that you get the software
and the cable with the needed drivers all in one package. But many
other such kits are available online at cheaper prices. Just google
for VX5200 data cable. Here's one such siye:

Note that they have the drivers for downloading and it supports
BitPim. Others are even cheaper.

If you plan on using BitPim then all you need is a data cable for your
phone with a driver. You can get cables cheaper from various online
sites, or even from your cell provider itself.

Check out the BitPim site and select your phone

It might be a good idea for you to go thru their Tour.

DataPilot (by Susteen) is complete garbage. Bitpim is far superior.

I agree. A few years back I upgraded from a VX4400 to a VX6100. When I went
to transfer everything I found that my new VX6100 wasn't on the DataPilot
list. To get it on the list I had to "update" my program. The problem was
Susteen wanted $60 for the upgrade. If you have to buy a new program every
time you upgrade phones the product is virtually worthless. I uninstalled
DataPilot & downloaded BitPim & have been using it ever since. The other day
I upgraded my phone to a VX8300. My BitPim didn't have that one listed so I
went to their site, downloaded the newest version that supported the VX8300
& did my transfer. All at no cost. Well to be fair I did have to buy a new
cable. OEM LG data cable on Ebay for $14 with shipping. Still quite a bit
less than DataPilot wanted.
