Default Employer discount

I am eligible for a an employer discount on my personal account. If I
register my number in order to receive the discount, does this start a
new contract period? I am 18 months into my present contract and
don't want to start a new contract and therefore extend my NE2.

I just signed up for the same "corporate discount" (6%) and
it did not affect my "New Every Two" contract--it still
expires this November.

No, contract extension. I get the 19% state discount. All it actually takes
off are the fees and taxes. But it is a savings.

Steve,
Make a note that most employer plans include an even better discount on
phone purchases. Don't forget this at upgrade time. The store agents
aren't required to remind you of this & they may charge you more than
necessary, out of ignorance. Most of the time the computer will catch it,
but by then you may be already sold on a certain model, when you could have
purchased a better model for the same price.

Also, don't forget eveyone on your same plan is eligible for the employer
discount, too.

That is not all necessarily true for all plans. I believe it depends on
the terms the employer arranges with Vzw. My plan takes off 22%, but
only for MY calling plan, nothing else. Thus, I get $13.20 off the
standard $60 for 700 minute America's Choice II Family Share plan. Any
extra family phone numbers are charged the standard add-on rate of 9.99
(not bad, really).

There is also a 25% discount for accessories (guess I could get those
for any phones on my plan - 3 family members). I also got a 250 message
pix/flix package for $5 (using phone as pager for work via text
messages), but not sure now if that was discounted or not - think the
previous deal of 100 text messages for $2.50 was. I am pretty sure I
cannot get that $5 deal again since the per-message rate was raised to
15 cents, so I have to be careful any plan changes don't wipe that out
since it seems Vzw is notorious for using plan changes to wipe out
existing deals at older, lower rates.

I do seem to be on year-to-year contract with this plan even when I got
a NE2 phone last year (only mine as the main one, not applicable to
family members as another thread discusses).

Also, I had to call a special Vzw 800 # for this plan to arrange setting
it up - explicitly NOT allowed to get it via a store, or any other Vzw
channel.

Are we confused yet?

FWIW,
ROC
