Default Exchanging Samsung sch-a990 for ?

Last week I purchased a Samsung SCH-a990. I really like the features and
camera isn't too shabby either.

The reason I am going to return it is because the reception and signal
strength are absolutely horrible. I cannot even get a signal inside my
house where my previous MOTO phones were great in that respect. Inside my
office at work is the same situation (Moto phone works, the a990 doesn't). I
know it probably has to do with the internal antenna but I have had phones
in the past that had an internal antenna and never had a problem. Could be
too that I have a lemon but in the 15 day period you can only exchange a
phone ONE TIME. If you aren't happy with your replacement, tough luck.

I'm not sure which phone to choose when I return it but I like the features
of the a990. I am looking for recommendations from people that are pleased
with their current phone. Especially signal strength and reception quality.

How about the Razr or Krzr? Do they live up to all the hype?

Thanks for any recommendations.

I returned the A-990 but more because I didn't like the restrictions
Verzion put on it. You can't get the damn pictures off it even with a
USB cable. I went with Cingular and a Sony Ericsson w810i, and I'm
delighted.

But if you're staying with Verizon, and you were willing to pay the
price for the Samsung, I'd check out the new Verizon Wireless G'zOne
Type-V. It's a military spec phone, 2 megapixel camera, and if that
weird looking loop on it is an antenna, probably gets good reception.

Maybe they'll throw your SIM card in one and let you borrow it for a
few hours to see how it works at home.

Good luck

James

I have a RAZR V3m which replaced an e815. The e815 was the first phone I
owned where I could get a signal anywhere in my house. I would say the RAZR
V3m is as good in terms of signal strength and call clarity even though it
has an internal antenna. I upgraded to the RAZR to get the VZ Navigator
feature, but I also like the thin profile. My BT headset also works as well
with the RAZR as the e815. I haven't tired the KRAZR so can't comment
except to say it's a whole lot more expensive. Hope this helps...

Like I said I really liked the features of the a990 and also liked the look
and feel but if you can't make or receive calls what do you have? An
expensive handset that plays crappy games! LOL

Today, I exchanged it for the RAZR w/extended battery. So far so good.

Man, I just registered on here today and posted almost the same post you
did about my POS sch-a990! I'm glad to see that I wasn't alone in my
opinion on the crappy reception/signal strength, etc. WHAT THE HELL
ARE THEY THINKING??? It's supposed to be a cell phone FIRST and
anything else, second! If it can't make or receive calls, like you
said, then *** good is it???

Hope you like that razr, I had to get rid of mine because I kept
fat-fingering the flippin' buttons, other than that it was pretty good.
At least it had good reception, etc. A little hard to hold and talk on
for me...not real ergonomic but definitely stylin'!

Back to the drawing board for me, trying to find ANOTHER new phone now!
Just glad I got my sch-a990 for free or I'd be REALLY pissed!
