Default Experiance in a Verizon COMPANY store...

This is pretty interesting, wonder how many others have gotten totally pissed
off in one.
I walked into a *Company Store* not a associate/reseller.i waited for 15
minutes for the
obnoxious Bimbo to finally settle long enough to talk with me.She asks for
my mobile numer
and name. She advises me that i am indeed qualified for the "New every two"
promotion.
So far so good right.......read on.....
I tell her i am interested in the Samsung u740 (dual hinged model). She tells
me she will check on the price.
She returns 10 minutes later after taking a personal call on her cellphone
and tells me she has them in stock.
my price is $129!!! I tell her I was told it would be deeply discounted due
to the "New every two". She proceeds
to tell me it's an expensive phone. She tells me her friend has one and she
HATES it! quotes "Dropped calls" and
"Texting problems"! It gets better.........
She then tells me the LG 8300 is TEN TIMES a better phone than the u740 ever
was, and she could get me into one for FREE.
Thats funny..the reviews are much better than that on the u740 all over the
place. i leave once AGAIN pissed off at this clod of
a salesperson.
i go back home, fire up the computer and go to Verizon's website. i look up
my account. Thru the account i get the same damn phone (Samsung u740)
for...get this....$29 (TWENTY NINE) dollars with a 2 year renewal! They will
deliver it for free in 2 business days.

Moral of this event....go play with them in the store, that are all active
and you can test drive them.
BUY them online, NEVER buy anything in the store. These people are
liars, stump stupid and would rip off their own family.

I agree with your moral and have posted similar comments here before.

Verizon's telephone people I've found to be helpful and knowledgeable
and things seem to work on their website, but try never to deal with a
Verizon store!

I do have to disagree with your assessment of the Verizon store
personnel, what you're dealing with are minimum wage, completely
untrained people who don't give a damn about you or any other customer.

You get what you pay for.

I've been told in the past, in a company store, that the web store and
brick stores are different business; thus, you may get different answers
based on how you get there...

Funny, I was told in a Verizon store that I would get the exact same
phone (the Samsung) for free under the "New Every Two" plan.

I must be lucky and fortunate that the employees at the local company
store are pretty knowledgeable about their products. Which is surprising
when you consider this is a small town with only about 35,000 people in
it.

However, my last phone and my new data card I bought from the web store.
While in a way I hate doing that, and would like to support my local
store, I can't overlook the fact that the local store requires mail-in
rebates and sales tax on the price before rebate, where as the web store
gives an instant discount and charges sales tax on the *discounted*
price. I hate dealing with rebates...so the company store loses.

For an example, the first of this year I wanted to go NE2 and get a LG
Chocolate. If I bought it at the local store, it was going to be $150
plus tax (6 percent here) out the door, and then I have to hassle with a
rebate. From the online store (which was having a "free shipping" deal
at the time), my entire order totaled exactly $0. Now given that choice,
which would you do :-)

Unfortunately for brick and mortar businesses the taxing jurisdictions
typically require that in store sales be taxed on the the
prerebate/prediscount price.

Sad you had a bad experience in the store. I had a VERY good person
wait on my wife, step daughter and I last July.

Got 3 new Motorola V325 phones. The sales lady was very nice, very
knowledgable and above all, willing to help us out.

It all depends on who you get at the store. Probably later on during
the day you would have found a better person to wait on you. Just luck
of the draw I guess.

Dave

Naw, in a town like that, a job in retail is a good one. I bet they ca
hire decent employees.

I was just in a company store last night. The salesman knew NOTHING.

Interesting story about employees, my sister asked me to go with her to
get a new phone, she was eligible for a free upgrade from her carrier
(NOT Verizon). We went to the place where she'd bought her phone and
service 2 years before and found a young man who REALLY knew about
carriers, plans, phones, etc. He actually listened to her as to what
she needed, realized she didn't know much about phones and took the
time to go over all the features of her new phone, explained and
demonstrated how everything worked and what features she would want and
wouldn't want. After getting the phone home, more questions came up,
she called and was told to bring the phone back and he went over
everything again!

It was a surprising experience to find someone who knew his stuff and
was willing to take whatever time needed to make sure the customer was
happy!

And what store was this, you ask? Radio Shack, believe it or not!

Well, that is true.

"for free" is bad English. You get something free, or for nothing.

This is not news to any of us who have been with Verizon for a while.
