Default As far as I can tell, it doesn't get better than this...

If you can live without having to upload your molars on Facebook in Real
Time, this is the best I have found after a year of searching...

PagePlus

Unlimited Talk and Text for $44.95 a month. Talk all you want, text all
you want and get 20mb data.

I thought I had been using the Internet heavily on my phone this month,
and when I went to look I saw I had used 19.19mb this month! Unheard of
for me, but I have been using it every day to look up service calls.

THen I realized, they are counting BACKWARDS from 20mb, and I HAVE 19.19
mb LEFT.

As mentioned before, this is on Verizon's PrePaid network, not quite as
good as their native network, but not too shabby at all.

This is their coverage map:

If you have a GSM phone, or like AT&T's network better, there's PureTalk.
$39,99 a month, unlimited talk and text. However, NO data. So if you have
a smartphone or need to use Rhapsody or Pandora, sorry, not for you.

Actually, after looking at their coverage map, I would probably do better
with them, except for the data. But the slapback (echo) that is more
prevalent on a GSM phone drives me nuts.

If you only have a cell phone and no land line, these are the best rates,
for my area at least. I tried to look at Cricket, but since I am not in
their area I can't get the info. They have also absorbed Pocket Mobile,
and seem to have dropped coverage totally in my area. They offered $45
unlimited talk and text, and 100mb data. But weren't very prevalent around
here.

Everything else prepaid is either by the minute or is no better than AT&T
or Verizon, and in some cases, worse.

Talk all you want except if the folks you are talking to don't have that
plan. All of my family and most of my friends so the "free" in-network
calling really keeps billable minutes down.

You do realize that many (likely most) folks want to use the converged
device they are carrying with them?

I used 43 Mb yesterday simply by looking at live radar while we were out
biking to determine how long we could ride and by looking up some
restaurants and getting some information on a piece of equipment.

This would not be the plan for you.

LOL, I just had the same experience this past week. I was worried that
it showed I had used 89MB in two weeks, but in reality I had used 11MB.
I had been using the 3G a lot (or so I thought) during that time.

Verizon has two networks....Verizon's and Alltel's. The "prepaid
network" differs in what partner systems the phone won't access that up
front VZW customers paying thru the nose for service get "included" as
off network roaming.

Oddly, out West I'm told not where I live, PP roams on some old AMPS mom
and pop systems even VZW's premium customers have to pay extra for.
Doesn't matter to us, but is amusing to contemplate.

Where VZW has dead zones they never fixed around Charleston, SC, the PP
phones simply roam over onto the other 850 network Alltel used to run as
included in-market roaming we're not charged extra for. Works great.

Tomorrow, my 360 day balance slips under the $100 mark....(c;] My
anniversary date is Feb 5, 2012, but it looks like I'll be loading
another $80 PIN before that. I don't use my phone much...Skype is
virtually unlimited on my new Acer Iconia Tablet on wifi.
