Only "old time" users will recognize the FreeUP name as an earlier
version of the VZW pre-paid plan. I am lucky enough to still have it -
I think. The plan when I signed up four years ago had free weekend
rates and charged $0.15 for off peak minutes and $0.30 for peak
minutes (as I recall). The killer was a $0.99 per minute fee for
roaming and there was very limited coverage here in Maine when I
signed up. The FreeUp deal required purchasing a $15 per 30 day; $30
for 60 day card. There was also, I think a $90 and $120 card. I've
always used the $30 card and just renew it/buy a new card at around
58-59 day and the unused dollars/minutes on the old card roll over. It
is a great deal to have a cell phone for a minimum of $15 per month.
Granted this phone is use sparingly except during certain times during
the year when I need to have a cell phone handy.
I just noticed that the free weekend minutes appeared to have
disappeared. Other than that, the billing rates still seem to be the
same including a lower rate for VZW to VZW calls.
Does anyone know the status of this plan or whether there might be a
billing error. I'm fearful that if i call VZW they will move me to the
INPluse plan which looks like it would be more expensive.
