Then why not a series of quiet beeps through the earpeice, or perhaps
have the phone vibrate in a special pattern? Why a huge honking siren
noise?
And for those who said that it would help to locate somebody under
rubble, keep in mind that she said that the noise was "not
earsplitting", and the tone only lasted a few seconds, not enough to
help people to find you, but good enough to tip off your assailant. If
it was meant to be a locater, it should be a loud, continuous alarm
that can be activated by a special key, or holding down a certain key,
and NOT tied into dialing 911. Or better yet, have it so the 911
dispatcher can also command the siren to go off by remote if you
become incapacitated after dialing.

Others have said it can't be turned off. Let's resolve this once and for all.
Please give a link to the appropriate manual for the Casio G'zOne phone.

Oddly enuf, the original article doesn't say what TYPE of phone (ie type s
=sim type v = verizon, etc) so it's unclear as to whether it was a verizon
thing (on type v's, or a casio thing other types)
as for a link to the manual, the website shows a bunch of different manuals,
differentiated by the type...
