I sent an e-mail to Verizon with the same question. The following is
the response:
Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless via our Website, my name is
Giovanni. I understand that you are inquiring about Internet access
on a cruise ship. I will be happy to assist you with your concerns.
We value you as a customer
Mr.xxxxxl, cruise ship service allows you to make and receive calls,
send and receive text messages and use data services on select cruise
lines while at sea.
The rates to use your phone on a cruise ship are currently $2.49 per
minute and $.50 per text to send /$.05 to receive.
In order to use your wireless service on a cruise ship, a free feature
called International Dialing is required. This feature will also allow
you to call from the United States to other countries.
Please be advised your account must meet the following eligibility
requirements before the International Dialing feature can be added:
1. Must be active for at least 90 days. Customers with less than 90
days of service must go through the manual review process.
2. No carry over balances.
3. No Service interruptions due to payments in last 90 days or reverse
payments in last 12 months.
Please keep in mind if you do not enhance your domestic data package
with one of the following Global Data features you will be billed
$20.48 per MB used for web browsing, app usage and/or
sending/receiving e-mail.
o 50 MB ($30.00 a month)
o 150 MB ($75.00 a month)
o 300 MB ($125.00 a month)
Note: Each addition MB over your allowance is billed at $20.48. The
Global Data feature, which can be add/removed at anytime is in
addition to your domestic data feature.
For information regarding Cruise Ship, including coverage rates and a
Data Calculator that will help you determine the plan that's best for
you, please visit the following link:

If the cruise line you will be traveling on is listed and you would
like to use this service, please call Customer Service at
800-922-0204,or airtime free from your wireless phone by dialing *611
(Send) to enable your account for Wireless Cruise Ship Service.
So, it looks like it will cost $15 for 100 min for the cruise ship,
$30 per 50mb for Verizon ---- and this includes app usage!!!!
I think that my laptop travels again!!!!
I make it my personal goal to resolve all of your wireless concerns. I
hope I have done that for you today by providing you with information
for using service aboard a cruise ship. We appreciate your business
and thank you for using Verizon Wireless.
