Default Killfiles

Those of you who insist on taking moral umbrage at trolls' postings and
feeding their illness should realize that you are also being killfiled. If
you want your posts to be visible to other readers just ignore the trolls.
If you want to enter alt-cellular-verizon oblivion with these idiots then
keep feeding them.

Default Re: Killfiles

Angelo, what I have done while using Outlook [Express] is when a troll posts
a message I first mark the thread to be ignored and then killfile the troll.
It removes the troll and it keeps the replies from the dangerously naive
from being visible as they demonstrate their unnecessary moral outrage.
These naive users are just as bad as the trolls. It's the usenet equivalent
to the morons that amplify a minor traffic accident into a major and
persistent roadblock as they stop in the road to look at the accident. Of
course all the "rubber-neckers", just as the usenet naive will deny they are
contributing to any problem. That is called denial.

If one does reply to the troll, one is adding to the problem. It's not
necessary for the naive to agree they are making things worse to make things
worse. Don't look at the accident and don't reply to the troll, period.

My experience suggests the people that reply to trolls won't stop because,
like the "rubber-neckers" they don't think their contribution is significant
and they are largely immune from perspective and objective examination of
their actions. They are simply exercising their emotions in a particular
manner. We will someday have only one news group, or perhaps 30,000
identical news groups, Alt.rage.about.everything
