See if you can find a Motorola DC600. This is a dongle that plus into the
bottom of Motorola phones with the older style interface (including the
Motorola a840) and into the headphone jack, and allows use of the phone
with Bluetooth 1.1 accessories.

My local Radio Shack has them on clearance for $25.

It won't allow you to do file transfer, but it will permit the use of a
headset.

The a840 is not listed as being compatible with the DC600, but that's
because the DC600 is an older product that came out before the a840.
