The V9M is much more expensive than the V3M but doesn't suffer from
that annoying red Verizon GUI. To me it would have been worth the
extra cost, I didn't know how much I'd detest that horrible red.

I'll probably reactivate my E815 and put the V3M on Ebay.

I have the V9M and it does have the Verizon GUI. Aside from that, I
like the phone and it compares favorably to my old E815. The only
disadvantage, aside from the high cost, is that the standard battery
doesn't last more than a day with normal use. There is an extended
battery that lasts longer, but requires a different battery cover.

Test drove the V9m. Nice phone but don't see the advantage over the E815
considering the cost and the mandatory contract. Same crappy interface (and
other crippling), poor battery life, little better camera...not enough
reason to upgrade.

But not the red bars. You can eliminate the horrid opening and closing
screen but so far there's no hack or seem edit to remove the red bars
top and bottom which the V9M does not have.

My wife is using my e815, and I have the V3M and the V9M. The V9M
reception is very close to the e815, whereas the V3M is not as good.

I also like the higher resolution crisp screen on the V9M. It also has some
functions the e815 and V3M need hacks to achieve.

Both my E815 and V3M will do anything that can be done, it only takes a
couple of minutes to edit the seem on each to take care of all the
things Verizon doesn't want me to do. I REALLY like the thinness of
the V3m but the E815 is a MUCH better phone which is why I think the
V3m is the one headed for Ebay.

I looked at the V9M but I could not see $150 difference. It's, in my
opinion, not as good as the E815 in most areas. Thin is nice but 6-7
day battery life is nicer...

I agree with your first paragraph, but remember seem editing is not
something everyone is capable of doing.

I bought the V9M when my V3M died. Rather than just replace it I looked
around. I liked the screens on the V9M better (easier to read with my older
eyes!), and the camera is much better than either the e815 or V3M. Since
my wife and I pix a lot when I'm on the road this is an advantage for me.
Her e815 pix quality is definately worse, but usable.

As for the battery - no contest. The V9M battery is poorly underrated, but
that's the price you pay for the thiness. I haven't tried the extended
battery since my VZW store doesn't stock them yet, but I expect it to bring
up the runtime to an acceptable level.
